Metal Detector is an iOS application designed to detect the presence of metal in your surroundings by measuring the magnetic field value. This practical tool utilizes the built-in magnetic sensor of your mobile device to display the magnetic field level in μT (microtesla). In nature, the magnetic field level (EMF) is typically around 49 μT (microtesla) or 490 mG (milligauss), with 1 μT being equivalent to 10 mG. When metal is nearby, the magnetic field value will increase.
Metal Detector enables you to easily identify any metal object in your vicinity, as all metals generate a measurable magnetic field. Operating this app is straightforward: simply launch it on your mobile device and move it around. You will observe that the displayed magnetic field level on the screen constantly fluctuates. The colorful lines represent the three dimensions, while the numerical values on top indicate the magnetic field level (EMF). As you approach metal, the chart will rise and your device will vibrate and emit audio signals to indicate its proximity. The sensitivity of these vibration and sound effects can be adjusted in the settings.
There are various practical uses for Metal Detector, such as locating electrical wires within walls (similar to a stud finder) or iron pipes beneath the ground. Additionally, you can amusingly employ it as a pretend ghost detector to playfully scare someone. Furthermore, this magnetometer can function as a scanner to detect concealed devices like cameras, microphones, or voice recorders.
Metal Detector is available in multiple languages, including Russian, Spanish, and Indonesian, in addition to Portuguese, Turkish, and French. The application now also offers versions in Arabic and Farsi.
If you find Metal Detector enjoyable and desire enhanced features, there is a pro version available. It can be accessed through the application menu.
The accuracy of the tool is reliant on the sensor within your mobile device. It is worth noting that electronic equipment can affect the magnetic sensor due to electromagnetic waves.
However, Metal Detector is unable to detect non-ferrous materials such as gold, silver, and copper coins, as they lack a magnetic field. Nonetheless, perhaps you will stumble upon a metal box containing some hidden treasure!
